A quick glimpse at how Blendini City folks pay their taxes

The Blendini City “Tax Menu”

While some people and buildings will never want to pay their taxes, many (believe it or not) are glad to pay their share. The people and buildings that enjoy paying the taxes the most are those that pay early on and can choose what they want to pay their tax dollars to contribute to. Others who don’t get nearly but make many contributions as citizens also get dibs on where their money goes.

The Blendini City Tax Menu lists all of the projects and programs that are to be funded each year and the total budget required.

The required budgets are determined much before the Tax Menu is released, Determining budgets is a collaborative effort between the citizens, the City Council, community leaders, and the Mayor. The budgeting process is transparent, and costs are broken down clearly. The earlier you can pay your taxes in full, the more options are still available. To prevent anyone from monopolizing their giving too much on one thing, the tax menu items do have limits on the amounts one can give.

Say you want to contribute to public parks, arts programs, and local business grants. You can choose how much you want to allocate to each program. Everything needs to be funded, but the options get less and less as people and buildings pay up.

What I like about the Tax Menu is that you can see where everything is going.

For the citizens who have to pay for things they do not want to pay for, it educates them on what to advocate for or against in the next year or incentivizes them to pay earlier. Something that needs to be kept in mind is that if you are bringing in less than $75,000 per year, you aren’t required to pay any city taxes whatsoever.
