My optimistic vision for a hopeful future

My name is Mason Carter and I’m the Creator and Mayor of Blendini City. I sincerely hope that you enjoy this little tour of my city! All of the drawings have been created by meby hand, using a combination of drawing pens and pastels. For five years, I have been toiling away at planning Blendini City’s founding. Here is the transit map of the city, which has developed since the founding of the city in 2073 to the current year of 2150.

Blendini City is a place that came from my imagination, but it is also a very “real place”. The buildings are all alive with many different personalities, behaviors, and outlooks. I truly do believe that the future doesn’t need to be bleak, or overly techno-narcissistic, and should celebrate humanity. Blendini City is my visualization of that and it’s a fantasy come to life.

What is Blendini City and why did I create it?

I came up with the idea of Blendini City in the year 2018, after falling in love with my home city Philadelphia’s architecture, and mourning over too many demolished treasures. I thought to myself, “What if buildings had feelings too?”. I then started doodling buildings from my imagination, which eventually became the seed of the idea of Blendni City. Then eventually I graduated to make full drawings. But even then the seed of an idea grows gradually and incrementally. It’s only been over time that I could truly define all of the neighborhoods and that reflects the overall development of the city.

I am proud I have created a place in my imagination where sentient buildings are citizens with the people. Through my drawings, I want to give you a window into what it’s like to live in Blendini City.

As a reminder, the city’s physical founding takes place in the year 2073 and the current drawings take place in the year 2150.

Being the Mayor, even with its challenges, has been an absolute joy. That’s because I’ve set out to create a city that is well-run, a joy to live in, and offers tremendous opportunities for its people and buildings. From its thrilling transit system to its mosaic of neighborhoods, I hope I can show Blendini City an alternative to how we think of the future city: an authentic place that celebrates the past, present, and future.
