This theater is the crown jewel of the Mana Park neighborhood which is itself a recreational section of the Blendini Central Woodlands. You can see how the park begins in this photo. Behind the theater is another area that functions as a multi-use space for fairs, functions, and parking for cars.

In addition, there are two loading streets behind these buildings which you can’t see for the businesses, since on the front they are for pedestrians and human-powered vehicles only. The loading streets also help a lot for drop-offs on nights that the Sunrise Sunset Theater is popping.

In the background, you can see buildings that encompass the nearby Storyville neighborhood, which has its own set of theaters.

A neighborhood built around a theater

The theater itself attracts a lot of people because it plays both films and stage shows. There’s always some kind of show happening every day, and so the nearby businesses benefit quite a bit from that. As you can see, this area is shaped like a triangle. “Third places” flank the theater, and then you can see a lot of specialty stores, places of work, and service-based businesses. Further down are more restaurants and third places.

Pal’s Wood Preservation gets a lot of business from the Sunrise Sunset Theater since they look to preserve a lot of the wood for sets. Sets use a lot of recycled elements from previous shows.

There’s always something different happening at the Sunrise Sunset Theater, and this populates our place with a lot of regulars and a lot of new people. It’s an awesome energy to have so many different people funnel in and out. People come here to meet the most creative and cool people around. Powerful people come here too, as they want to talk to potential actors and directors.
